FIXIT Group was started by me, Patrick Beckerton — a career marketer, problem solver, and occasional handyman with a knack for turning chaos into order.
After years not knowing what I wanted to be when I grew up, something finally clicked.
While dealing with burnout (and during the resulting “leave of absence”) I spent my time building, fixing, advising, coaching, and even laughing – all things I realized I wanted to keep doing.
With help from the horrific job market, wanting led to planning, planning led to doing, and eventually all my ideas coalesced into what you see now – the FIXIT Group.
I’m not even going to deny it, I’m still trying to figure out how “Marketing Consulting” fits with “Do-It-Yourself Videos” and how those connect with “Computer Basics Training” to create a perfectly cohesive company, but once I figure that out, I’ll be sure to write something about it on this site.
After all of my years in the “professional” world, a pattern became clear to me: whether it was a business owner struggling with growth, a buddy struggling to manage a simple DIY project, or a relative just trying to understand their laptop — people needed friendly, approachable, experienced help without jargon, judgement, or awkwardness.
Considering my “Expert-Level ranking” in marketing, my “Shockingly Good ability” in construction and handiness, and my “A College Actually Hired to Me to Teach that qualification” in computer tutoring, I decided that my company will do all those things… preferably not all at the same exact moment, but who knows.
The result is a family of brands that I’m dedicating to a pretty vague mission: Helping people with what they can’t do, showing other people that they can!
No man is an island.
